New Scholar Quotes From Scholarship Applications
Jerma Balaba: I love teaching children because it
is where I could impart my knowledge regarding
good manners and right conduct to make these
young citizens good future leaders of our country.
It also increases my patience and understanding.
Pinel Bulawit: After graduation I will take the extra
effort to give lectures in nutrition, maternal and
child health, sanitation and environmental
awareness.
Mary Cabalce: I was one of the lucky chosen to
participate in the 1999 Provincial Youth
Environmental Camp sponsored by the US Peace
Corps and the Batanes Development Foundation. I
joined the International Coastal Clean-up and
initiated the same activity in our school after camp.
I have felt a self-worth because I have done
something as a young citizen of my country.
Karsten Dalida: I expect to be the one coordinating
people to develop reforestation project and to
educate individuals how to preserve and protect
forests even in very simple ways.
Jaime Padduyao: One very important event in my
life is when we went to Palawan to the Peace Corps
ecology camp. I learned the importance of our
natural resources that we must preserve and … to
eradicate pollution it must start in the barangay.
Jowe Tanio: Boldly I say that I could help my
community by the course I have chosen in teaching
the youths how to act and speak meaningfully. My
father died when the typhoon came in 1995. I also
lost my three brothers and sister that died with my
father. Presently my widowed mother sells
vegetables in our barangay, but it is insufficient for
my study. I can personally contribute to paying the
expenses of my education by washing the clothes of
others.
Edwin Valientes: Through extensive studies of the
vernacular culture its archaeological landscape, I
can help in the preservation and conservation of the
native culture by conducting seminars, especially
among the youth, and working with the local
legislative body to pass laws.

Sir:
I'm very much touched with what the PCAFPD is
doing in our country. As I read the newsletter that
you sent me, I realized how intelligent our God the
Almighty is. One of His marvelous works which is
creating man really amazed me. I remember one of
the passage in my high school history textbook that
" walang sinumang tao sa mundo ang maaring
magmahal ng higit sa kanyang bansa kundi siya na
mamamayan nito" (Noone in this world can love his
own country that much but he, who is the citizen
that comprising it.)Now, I proved it wrong! The
Filipinos are not the only people in the world that
love the Philippines so much but also the American
PCV's who gave and continuously giving their life
and even their last breath just to give the Philippines
hope and priceless legacy- love, peace cooperation
and development….
By this time we are so busy in the university
because we will be celebrating our Intramurals in
the 1st week of Sept. I'm also doing a survey for my
article in "The Auditor" regarding the reaction of
my fellow accountants with the recent Pulse Asia
survey that 19% of Filipinos wants to leave the
country to look for the greener pasture abroad. You
know, its quite alarming, thats why I would like to
know the reaction of my fellows and also ask them
to give some important opinions as well as their
plans in the future-if they will also leave this
country or be among the very few who look at this
phenomenon as an eye opener that tells us that there
are really problems in our country and everybodys
participation is a must to combat this problem. I
hope that someday, I would be able to contribute in
solving the very long struggle of our country to
combat the very long list of our problems.
Respectfully yours, Fernando Eco, Scholar

Greetings! It’s my honor and pleasure to share to
you once again my experience and my life of 4
years in college and service in our community. Last
March 22, the day that I will never forget, it was our
graduation and I’m very happy I earned the degree
of Bachelor of Secondary Education. Just this
summer, I spent my time working the last
requirement before I got my credentials and I
passed my applications to the different schols here
in Iloilo for the teaching position. Fortunately, one
of the schools (Doane Christian Academy
Foundation) where I passed my application
accepted me to work as a registrar and to help in the
P.E. class. I’m very happy I’m on the first step onto
the ladder of success… THANK YOU VERY
MUCH, YOU ARE A GREAT PART OF MY
SUCCESS!!! Truly yours, Retchel Mae A. Edang

My course deals about the environment, the
ecosystem which of course involves the humans,
especially about the impact to the environment on
some unsound plans we implement. One exciting
experience was during our Dendrology class
fieldtrip at Initao National Park at Misamis Oriental
and Panggasihan Mangrove Forest. We identified
different species of plants ranging from the huge
Mindanao White Lauan,to Lipstick Palms, down to
the smallest Manila grass….I am happy to inform
the FOUNDATION that I am already a member of
the prestigious Debating Club after passing some
series of screenings..Restfully yours, Rico Ancog

One more year to go & I will graduate from my
course & I could not attain this success without
your help. Sir/Madam, if ever your office will grant
me, I will prefer to work in my own community
since I’ve noticed that they really need a help.
Eversince, most of them suffers poverty. Besides,
my heart belongs to them & I am very much happy
& inspired to give my free service to them. For so
many work that I may able to work on, I prefer to
volunteer in the medical field for I believe that
health is the most important asset that a person
should care of. It is like an intelligence which even
the thieves could not take away from that person….
Respectfully yours, Maricyl O. Flores

Hello everyone! Have you heard the news about the Helicopter crushed? I guess so! That tragedy
happened a month ago in my place “Apo Island”. During that time everyone at the Apo Island were up
on their toes helping the rescuers to find the dead bodies of those 10 American passengers. Everyone
was sad about that thing happened. Those people died because of the genuine care for the Filipino
people…. Lets talk about my study. My 1st year in college was really great! I’ve enjoyed studying the
Midwifery course, because I’ve learned a lot from this course…. My parents were very happy for me, in
behalf of my family I would like to thank you for lighting me up my life. Best wishes and God speed!
